On Tuesday, I returned from my trip to Washington, D.C. where I saw my family, went to the beach and exhibited at the Taking Action for Animals conference. If you were there, feel free to contact me and say "hi." Here's me talking to an attendee about the National Association of Pet Rescue Professionals and all our books. (We brought copies of Vegan Success, Happy Hound, and Happy Tabby.) A whole lot of groups were there, including Alley Cat Allies, advocates for stray and feral cats. I made a point of getting a picture of me with their mascot Frank the Feral, who was wandering around the show. (After all, how often do you get the opportunity to have your picture taken with a guy in a giant cat suit?) I look a little possessed, but that's because I was laughing since Frank was about to remove his head. (As an aside, we'll be doing a teleseminar with ACA President Becky Robinson on September 16 titled “How Shelters Can Respond to the Special Needs of Cats” so stay tuned for more information.) All in all, it was a fun show and I met some amazing people who are doing great work to help animals. Plus, as a vegan it was exciting to be at an event where I didn't have to worry about what was in lunch. (Everything was vegan-friendly!)
