This week, I have been considering ways I can help people in rescue deal with the recession. Because I talk to folks at shelters and rescues around the country every week for my radio show, I know that things are tough out there. There's a lot of doom and gloom in the media (and I'm not just talking about Halloween).
The thing is that business goes on, even when times are bad. I know people who work with animals don't like to think that they are in business, but a non-profit is a business. If you don't get donations and adoption fees, you have no money and you shut down. Non-profit doesn't mean no income. No income = bankruptcy and then you can't help any animals at all.
Take a BITE Out of the Recession
With that thought in mind, starting next week, I'm going to do a series of free conference calls. In my other life as a business owner and consultant, I charge a minimum of $150/hour to answer business, online marketing, and publishing questions. (Tons of information about my business background is on the "About" pages of the Logical Expressions site) If you have questions on how to get more adopters in the door, how to get the word out about your organization, or other marketing "stuck spots" bring them to the call. (The more the merrier!)
I plan to do the calls on Friday mornings. Since it's late today, I'll give you the special call-in number for these Take a BITE Out of the Recession calls next week. I'll showcase different recession-busting ideas on each call, and like I said, you can ask questions.
You don't have to be a NAPRP member, although members are certainly invited! All you need is a phone. Calling in to the conference is just like making any other long distance call. I'll be posting the call-in number soon, so watch this space!
