This week, I had the pleasure of hosting a teleseminar with the American Humane Society (AHA). I talked with Debrah Schnackenberg Vice President, Animal Protection Division, Director, Red Star Animal Emergency Services and Marie Wheatley, the president and CEO of the AHA about how we can be prepared in the event of a disaster. It was an incredibly informative hour, and I am in awe of their expertise. We should have the recording posted in the member area of the Web site next week.

In other news, I got a call about a possible television PR opportunity for those of you located in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas or Houston, Portland, Seattle, Denver, or Cincinnati.

Jim Friedman is doing a television show called Tales for the Pet Lover's Heart. He says, "we are searching for people who have interesting stories to share about how important pets are in our lives." They plan to begin shooting the second edition of the television special in a few weeks and are seeking new stories of interesting people and their pets. (Note that they don't do recreations, so it needs to be something interesting you are doing now, not a past event.)

As an example, in the show last year, Jim says they featured:

1. A woman who loves her dogs from the shelter so much that she has started a business as a Pho-Dog-rapher. In addition to taking furry family photos, she volunteers for the shelter taking picture of other dogs and cats to help them find their forever homes.

2. A woman who gets dogs from a shelter and trains prison inmates how to train them. The inmates find a valuable connection and life lessons with their new companions and the trained dogs find new homes. All profits go back to the shelter.

3. A World Championship Frisbee dog trainer who gets dogs from the local shelter and helps others who rescue pets train their dogs.

You can read more about the show and the project at www.talesforthepetloversheart.com

If you're interested, just send me an email, and I'll pass on Jim's email address to you. (Then please let him know you found out about the opportunity through me and NAPRP.)

As always, thank you for all you do to help the animals ;-)
